BIHM to train 1800 students in Hospitality & Tourism sectors
Manama, 22 April 2007: The Labour Fund today signed a BD3.2 million contract with Baisan Institute for Hospitality Management (BIHM) to fund the training of more than 1,800 Bahrainis in diverse fields of the hospitality sector. The agreement was signed by Mr Abdulellah Ebrahim Al Qassimi, Acting Chief Executive of the Labour Fund, and Mr. Qutub Abbas Dadabhai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BIHM.. The signing ceremony was held at the Bahrain Hotels Company premises at the Gulf Hotel and was also attended by Mr. Aqeel Raees, Chairman of the Specific Council for Vocational Training - Hospitality Sector, and Dr. Ahmed Abdul Ghani Al Shaikh, Vice President of the Human Capital Development at the Labour Fund.
BIHM Mingle-The fun filled Student event
Manama, 4 April 2007: The BIHM Mingle was celebrated on Wednesday , 4 th April at the AlHoora Hall, attached to Baisan International Hotel . The event organized by the students of DIHM 5 as part of their academic activity , was a fun filled day studded with Western and Oriental dances , songs , music. and exciting games. Students from Nepal , dressed in their traditional outfit danced away, to the merriment of all. Spot games , singing and dancing competitions were all held as part of the event , which attracted both Bahraini and international students. Prizes were awarded to winners of these competitions. Students of each DIHM batch was selected and honoured as the Best Student . The criteria for the award was made on the grounds of attendance, coupled with academic performance and soft touch skills. Mr. Tapan Chatterjee , the Executive Director of BIHM , flanked by Dr. John Panackel, Head of Training & Development and Mr. Atul Gokhale , Academic Dean distributed the awards. The event concluded with a lunch , that was prepared by the students of DIHM 5 at the institutes Training Kitchen.
BIHM Graduation Ceremony
Manama, 4 March 2007: The grand graduation ceremony - 2007 was held on 4th of March 2007 at Best western Juffair Hotel, Juffair in presence of a houseful gathering. 191 students of BIHM apprenticeship courses, AHLA & IATA Diploma courses received their certificates upon successful completion of the various BIHM Courses. Mr.Ali Suleibikh, Executive Manager of Specific Council for training in Hospitality, Mr. Adel Rashid Althawadi , Head of Quality Assurance, Civil Aviation affairs and Mr. Saeed AlNasheed, Chief of Job seekers Training Section, Ministry of Labor spoke on the occasion.
BIHM with New Face
Manama, 15 March 2007:Mr. Qutub Dadabhai, the Managing Director of BIHM in an exclusive interview stated that BIHM's educational agreements with the number one hospitality education provider in the world, the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) for its various programs, the tie up with the Hospitality and Tourism Management Institute HTMi of Switzerland for its Swiss diploma and Off Campus programs of BA honors and BBA in Hospitality Management with the American Universities is now paving the way for BIHM's vision of becoming the number one in the region. With the 7 years of experience in the filed of education and having developed programs and methodologies suited for the Region, BIHM, with the confidence of taking these programs and facilities of education to greater heights, has decided to invest BD 1.5 million to build a State-of-the-Art Hospitality College with a vast campus, hostel facilities, resource center and other infrastructure facilities which will provide not only excellent education in a specialized fashion, but also develop Hospitality Professionals for the region to suit the requirements of international groups which are all coming into the Middle East for establishing their properties.
